Classy to no end, can have a hardtop, and they're sexy as hell with euro bumpers. Or are they looking for sporty as opposed to a cruiser?

Can't you get a hardtop for the convertible as well?

Sorry, bad wording. They came in coupe and convertible form, but I meant you could have a hardtop for the convertible, as pictured

Clearly they want a Cadillac Alante, if they want the best of the best the '93 is where it's at, the only year they were made with Northstar V8's. 295/290 hp and torque! I'm pretty sure the trunk is lined in suede too....

Oh, lol, that was exactly my question. I thought I recalled being able to get the hardtop for the convertible, but wasn't sure.

Used Lexus SC430.

Autobox... Check. Reliable... Check. Convertible... Check. Under $25k... Check. Not a Mustang or Camaro... Double check.

Find a V8 SL class. They'll be converted permanently. It'll spoil them rotten with the ride quality and options it'll come with if they get an R129 class. If they get an earlier one (As gmctavish posted) they'll have class into the next century.

NOT THE BANGLE

And this particular instance is a 10-cylinder, but that probably fits into the spirit of the "must be a V8" rule.

Its best to stick to 06-09, the 04-05 had cosmetic issues and only the 5-speed tranny (06 was the first 6 speed). I love mine, but I got the supercharged V which is a little more than their budget.

Mercedes CLK. 1st-gen CLK 430 or 55AMG, or 2nd-gen CLK 550 (pictured).

By your stated requirements, I would assume that your parents are looking for a car for cruising and driving casually, so I would suggest the Lincoln Continental Convertible.

It's classy, has a large V8, has suicide doors, and quality to shame today's cars.

Kinja'd!!!

Decent condition 1960s Lincoln Continental convertibles go for about $25k price, while excellent condition or restored ones are about $35k-$50k. Equivalent-condition sedans are about $5-$10k cheaper.

Here is post-facelift unrestored 1966 convertible in good condition in an unusual shade of dark green for $24,9k.

This one is a one-owner pre-facelift 1963 convertible in black for $25k.

This one is a post-facelift 1965 convertible with everything working aside from a finicky top for $14.9k.

Here is a post-facelift 1967 convertible in bronze for $22.5k.

As a comparison, here is a 1963 pre-facelift sedan in black in excellent condition for $22k and a post-facelift 1966 2-door hardtop coupe in cream yellow for $20k.
